Favre injured

This story is about Vikings Quarterback Brett Favre. Favre was injured in last week’s game and has been experiencing intense pain in his shoulder during passes. Favre was listed as questionable for Sunday’s game and if he doesn’t play it will stop his streak of playing in 297 games starting consecutively. Favre holds this record in the NFL and it’s an incredible feat.

I personally love Favre. He is one of the greatest players that have ever played in the NFL. I think that it is amazing that he has held onto this career for so long. Football is one of the greatest sporting events on the planet and rightfully so. There is no other sport that has become so popular. Football is as American as apple pie and we should all feel a since of accomplishment when we get to see one of the games. I played in High school and I still think back to those days of dressing out for the big game. I loved the thrill of the kick off as the game got underway; I loved the first contact as I smashed into the defender that I was supposed to hit. I can’t say that I blame Favre for being in so long. It would be hard to give it up even at his age. You can tell that the man really loves the game and doesn’t want to leave because of his love for the game. A lot of people say that he is just staying for the money and that he is greedy. I don’t think that this is correct. I feel as if I can tell that he loves the game every time he steps onto the field. You can see him light up the first pass that he completes and you can also see the defeat on his face when he makes a mistake. This to me shows a man with passion not greed. As far as I can say I don’t care if the man is still playing when he is 80 as long as he is still loving it and doing a good job.

Dems go against Obama

This article is about the House Democratic Party going against president Obama and the GOP on the tax cut extensions deal. They article claims that the Democratic party in the house has claimed they will vote against the deal that the president made with the GOP leaders to get this all to go through.

My personal feel on this is that the Democrats in the house just don’t get it. They didn’t get it during all the public outrage while the Obama care bill was going through, they didn’t get it in November when half of them lost their jobs due to the people voting them out, and now they don’t get it when the people are saying they don’t want higher taxes. These leaders don’t realize that they are supposed to be there to vote the way that their districts want them too. The people don’t have a voice anymore. We vote for the person that we think will act the way that we want them too and then as soon as they get in there they do whatever the hell it is that they want to do. They haven’t a clue.

We do not need higher taxes. We don’t need to have the people that are on unemployment to lose their benefits now when they still haven’t been able to find jobs. Federal works projects are not the answer to this either because they are temporary jobs that as soon as they finish the project that they are currently working on they will get laid off again. Higher taxes on anyone would be a bad idea at this point in time. People need every dollar that they can get to be able to survive. Besides the real way to fix the economy is to build from the bottom up. If you give more money to the working class then they buy things, this causes the business to profit, then they hire more workers because they can expand. That is the way to fix the economy and that is how it should be done.

Westboro plans to protest Edwards' funeral

This article is about the Westboro Baptist Church’s plans to picket the late Elizabeth Edwards’ funeral. The article says that Westboro believes that God is punishing Americans for our tolerance to gays, Catholics, Jews and others.

This group is the most disgusting group that I have ever heard of. They make me sick using the name of God and claiming to be associated with Godly values. The bible that I have talks of tolerance and peace, I have never seen anywhere in the good book that states that you should do something so disrespectful to other human beings. God would not want for anyone to do this and I’m sure they are acting on the side of Satan more than God. I don’t know how they have gotten away with this for so long without some grieving parent or other family member doing something to stop it. Not that I would condone something like that but I can imagine all the things that would go through my head if they were protesting a loved one of mine. Some of these places that they have protested are in areas where it wouldn’t surprise me if someone ran off the road and hit a few of these protesters. These people need to learn some respect for life and common decency. No one no matter what they have done deserve to be treated like that after death.

As far as Edwards this woman was from all accounts a good person. I don’t believe that I have seen anywhere that she has done anything wrong to anyone. She has also had a pretty bad last few years with her son dying and getting cancer then all the hype over her husband cheating on her. I feel for her and wish that she may be buried in peace.

TSA

This is a story about the TSA. The report talks about the different lawsuits against the TSA as well as a slew of other related topics, like that of the no radiation scanners that are being developed. They mention that there has been quite a bit of media coverage and public outrage over this very subject.

My personal opinion is that the TSA is completely out of bounds on this subject. They have no rights to be doing this to the people of this country. It has always been like this, governments find ways to scare their people into submission. They find things like “we are protecting you from terrorists” to take our rights away from us. This is one example and another is gun control. They have used the fear of criminals as an excuse to make more gun laws and regulations. The sad thing is that the people that we don’t want to have guns don’t obtain them in any legal way. The laws only affect the good people of this country. We are the ones that have to pay for it. We are being treated like cattle in the airports. Everyone of us is guilty until proven innocent in the airports. I do believe that we need security in airports but it should not be brought on by worthless people making ten dollars an hour at the only job in law enforcement that they could get. All of these “agents” are the ones that were too slow, too dumb, or too big to get into the law enforcement academy’s or FBI. Now if you are one of these people or you know one of them and they are not the person that I just described then I don’t mean them. Yes there are exceptions to every rule and I am generalizing. So the choice that we have when we want to fly is either go through harmful radiation (yea I know they said its safe but does the government always tell the truth?)Or we can choose to be molested by some overweight TSA slob. I for one don’t want either. And one last point to show the intelligence of these TSA agents, they are working 12 hours a day hanging out by a machine emitting radiation and they are not wearing lead.

Christmas

So I have decided that Christmas is the worse time of the year. Don’t get me wrong I love getting together with family, I love seeing my kids light up on Christmas morning. The thing that I hate is the STRESS. Christmas time is such a pain because I have a big family. We get together every year and everybody buys tons of gifts for all of the kids. This means that we have to buy gifts for all the kids. My wife and I are both full time in college and as such we don’t have a lot of income at the moment. We have three kids of our own and just buying for them would be tough. Putting all these extra gifts on top of the list that we are getting for our kids it is at times unbearable. I sometimes feel like that if we buy for all these family members then we are taking away from our own kids. Not to mention this is the first year that I am not making a lot of money. In the years past I have always had a good job and quite a bit of money for things like this. Last year we bought our two older kids new four wheelers. This year it will not be like that. I have always been the provider for my family and have always spent lots of money on them for birthdays and Christmas, not because I wanted to show off how much money I made or anything like that. I love seeing the kids’ eyes when they unwrap that amazing gift (or gifts). The holidays now are more stress than anything and I feel as if I am competing with myself to buy gifts. I can’t even get close to giving them anything like they had last year. I do know what most would tell me that it isn’t really about the gifts and that the holidays are about being with your family. I know this but kids don’t always understand this when their friends are telling them what all they got for Christmas. The disappointment that they can have tears me up inside. I was poor growing up and my parents did the best that they could with what they had. I know now that they went without a lot of things so that I my sister and my brother could have good gifts. I have always appreciated that and loved them for it, but that never helped when I would hear about all the cool things that my friends got for Christmas. I remember wishing and praying that we would hit the lottery and be “rich” like my friends’ parents. My kids will be like me and very appreciative for what they get I know for sure. And they are getting good gifts and plenty of them. Most of this is probably me wanting to give my family the world and not being happy until they have every single thing that they could possibly want.
