Woman faked acid attack

This report was over a woman named Bethany Storro. Bethany had come to the media’s attention earlier this year when she suffered burns all over her face from acid. Originally she claimed that a woman came up to her on the street and asked if she wanted to drink this and then splashed a cup of acid in her face. She is now telling that she fabricated the story of the woman on the street and also that she was actually the one that splashed the acid on her own face.
I read the reports when she was first on the news and found it peculiar to say the least. I couldn’t imagine such an act being done. I felt sorry for the woman being attacked and wondered how anyone could do such a thing. After reading this new report about her confession I am even more baffled. It brings to mind so many questions. How crazy does someone have to be to do such a thing to themselves? What was she planning on getting out of this? She must have thought that fabricating this story would cause some sort of fame for her. I wonder if this world has really gotten this crazy or if maybe we just hear more about it now because of all the media. Maybe we have always been that crazy now we just know about it due to the instant access to news. I do feel as if people are desperate for attention these days especially anyone under the age of thirty. Maybe as a society we are not teaching our younger generations how to cope with problems. The saddest part of this is that with households needing both parents to work just to survive these days I don’t see a change anytime soon. As far as the lady that burned herself I guess she has received her punishment so I don’t think that they should press charges. I also hope that they get her the help that she needs.

Inez Sainz

This report on fox sports is over the controversy about Ines Sainz. For those of you who don’t know Ines Sainz is a reporter for Mexico TV Azteca. Ms. Sainz was doing an interview of the New York Jets. The controversy stems over the fact that Ms. Sainz was in the Jets Locker room while the team was changing, showering, and walking around naked. The players and coaches reportedly whistled and “cat called” her. She has complained to the NFL that she was “harassed” and now the guys on the team are in trouble.
My first thought on this was “Well what did she expect when she goes into the mens locker room while they are changing” then I seen a picture of what she was wearing. That made me realize she would have to be a complete idiot to not know that was going to happen. She was wearing skin tight pants that completely showed EVERY curve from the waist down. She was also wearing a blouse that was unbuttoned down so far that it showed most of her cleavage. Any woman dressed like that should know that men are going to whistle and cat call her, especially when you enter a testosterone filled room of football players. This makes me only come to two possible scenarios for this instance. One she dressed like that to get the guys’ attentions and wound up getting more than she was expecting so she got offended or two she dressed like that so that she would get harassed and then she could complain and get her fifteen minutes of fame. Either way the guys on this team should not be punished whatsoever. They only did what was natural for them. For a guy to be that athletic he would have to have an excessive amount of testosterone, an excessive amount of testosterone causes the guy to be sexually heightened causing him to over step his bounds.

Colbert and Steward Rally

This Story is one done by MSNBC. They talk about Stephen Colbert and John Steward plan to host a rally in Washington D.C. The Rally is supposed to be for people that don’t have the time to go to rallies.
I find both of these guys hilarious. No I don’t always agree with them and sometimes they are borderline offensive but I think that’s what I love most about them. This is the type of people that I think should be delivering the news. There is a certain honesty that people seem to get when they are on their shows. They both hit their guests with the hard questions and try to see if they can get them off of their rehearsed answers.  Any type of rally that they are hosting together has to be really good. I know that attending would be a lot of laughs. The report said that "You may be asking yourself ... but am I the right person to go to this rally?" Stewart said on his show. "The fact that you would even stop to ask yourself that question as opposed to just jumping up, grabbing the nearest stack of burnable holy books, strapping on a diaper and pointing your car towards D.C. — that means I think you just might be right for it." Any rally that has that kind of intro has to be good. I have found that with both of these guys anyone I have talked to was either a big fan of one or both of them, or they absolutely hated them and anything tpo do with them. I believe that this is usually closed minded people that only listen to people that share their opinion and are not willing to at least hear the other side. Whether you love them or hate them I think that you have to admit that they have a major influence on the voting population.

Donald Trump offers to Buy Mosque building

This is an article in the Huffington Post that I found to be interesting. It talks about how Donald Trump offered to buy an investors stake in the building that has plans to put up a mosque. He was reported to have offered the investor 25% more than he had originally paid for it. The investor did not take Mr. Trump on his offer even went as far as to say that Trump was trying to get publicity for the ordeal.

For one thing Donald Trump doesn’t need to buy out some investor for publicity. He has the apprentice show for that. Also if this investor was really just an investor then he would have jumped on the offer. He is obviously in it now for publicity himself. If the building wasn’t such big controversy now then he would have sold it to Mr. Trump in a heartbeat. It makes me sick to see that the media would even cover this story the way that they did. Their point of view should be objective and not from a perspective that makes anyone look like the “bad guy” I personally applaud trump for his offer it is not every day that we see someone actually try to make a difference in a problem. He is a New Yorker and as such he too is appalled to see a mosque going up that close to ground zero. It is not saying that he thinks Muslims shouldn’t have a mosque in New York just that out of common respect for the victims and their families not to put one there. If the leaders of the Muslim community really wanted to show that they are peaceful and not an intolerant people then they would find a different place for their mosque. That would make everybody happy and might even show the world that they care about people other than themselves too. Just deciding to move the mosque might win them the respect that they act like they are looking for.

Flight 93 Memorial

This report is a bit of a commemoration of the flight 93 victims. It also touches base with several of the families of the people that died on that flight. Lastly it talks about how the memorial still hasn’t been worked on much let alone completed.

First I would like to say that it really saddens me how little progress has been done at the memorial or even ground zero for that matter. I have personally been to the site of the Oklahoma City memorial, this memorial is a great tribute for those who died. It also was completed two years and six months after Timothy McVeigh took those 168 lives. Sadly now nine years since the events of 2001 there is not a building even beginning to rise out of the hole in New York City and the site of the flight 93 crash still looks like an empty field. It is a travesty that those who died on September 11th still don’t have a proper memorial.

I would also like to say that it makes me proud to be an American when I think of those brave people on flight 93, they found out what was going to happen and they stood up against the terrorists. They lost their own lives to save others on the ground. I couldn’t think of a better way to die then giving up my own life to save others.

As far as the families of the victims of that day my heart will always go out to you and my prayers are for you and the people left behind. Always be proud of your family members that stood up that day and don’t worry about them. I am sure that God reserves a special place for people that fight like they did for what is right.

Quran Burning

This story comes from FOX news. This is one subject that I believe that anyone who follows the news whatsoever already knows a little bit about. The article is a follow up on the Reverend Terry Jones. For those of you who have been living under a rock for the past two weeks Jones was planning on hosting a Quran burning this Saturday at his church in Florida. The plan has struck up quite a bit of controversy around the world, even as much to have the president state his opinion on the act. The article stated that Jones has decided against burning the Quran this weekend.

My personal opinion over this subject is as follows:

First, he has a right to burn anything he feels like burning. This is a free country; as such I can burn Bibles, Qurans, flags, bras, or whatever else I feel like burning. We should never as a country try to stop someone from expressing how they feel no matter whom the act may offend.

Second, who is really at fault here if this act would cause harm to our soldiers? The guy burning the Qurans or the media? Jones burning the Quran is just some guy burning books until the shock seeking media blows the story up and spreads it across the entire world. Not one Muslim in any other country would have even known about this had our media not told them.

Third, Ever since the whole debacle over the mosque at ground zero all I have heard from the media and high ranking people of Islam is that Islam is a religion of peace, that they are not extremists as a whole. They also say that the extremists are very few. If this is truly the case then what is all the fuss about this guy burning their holy book? If Islam is truly about peace then our soldiers would not be put in harm’s way by someone burning a few books.

Recovery Summer What a Joke

Obama’s “Recovery Summer” This is a report about how the economy is doing according to the president. The report goes into detail how unemployment has gone from 9.5% to 9.6% and also how Barrack Obama believes that we are heading in the right direction. Just for clarification 9.5% to 9.6% means more people are unemployed now then last month.

First off let me make this absolutely clear. I am not a republican or democrat, conservative or Liberal. I am more of a free thinker as I would like to say. I will not follow the heard off of a cliff just because everyone else is going that way or someone that talks really good tells me to. As far as this whole recovery summer goes the entire administration must believe the American people are a bunch of idiots. The truth of the matter is the jobs that this administration have crated are all temporary jobs that aren’t something that anyone would really want. Most of the increased jobs are projects like the census and road and city work created by the stimulus. First the census, the census was going to happen regardless of what administration was controlling the white house. So for Obama’s group to take credit from these jobs is a huge joke. Pee Wee Herman could be president and the census would have still provided jobs for people temporarily. Secondly road, city, bridge, and all other work being done from money from the stimulus. This work is all temporary, the jobs created across this country from this are jut temporary also most of these people will be laid off as soon as it gets cold again for winter. The real sadness of this all is that people will continue to vote for these people (and I mean on both sides not just the Dems.) these politicians are so out of touch with the American people and what we really need here.

Two sets of Confessions to the Same Murder

The report starts out telling that two men one they refer to him as Livers and the other as Sampson. The story goes that two people were found brutally murdered in their home. The first suspect the police had was the couple’s 28 year old nephew (Livers). After a lot of police interrogation Livers admitted his guilt and also implicated his friend named Sampson. Even with his confession the police needed more evidence to convict the boys so they had one of the best known CSI investigators go over the boy’s vehicle. The investigator found a single drop of blood in the vehicle. Then the police found out that another couple were actually the murderers, thus completely proving the original boys innocence.

This story is incredible right from the start. In the report it says that the Livers boy was given a polygraph and said to have failed it. Come to find out the polygraph results were read wrong so he didn’t fail it. Second the confession was forced by the police interrogator. The interrogator led Livers to an untrue confession. Third the guy they had search the vehicle was looking for a piece of evidence that would seal the deal on their confession. It truly baffles me that this kind of injustice can be seen still today. It really makes you wonder how many people are in jail or prison right now that are innocent. How many people lost their lives to an overzealous prosecutor that wanted to win that big case? Whats even worse is that now they are reviewing every case this investigator has worked on so far. This means that there is a chance that people that were rightly convicted before might go free because of his supposed mistake on this one case. I think its time that the government finds some better checks and balances in the justice system to prevent things like this from happening again.

Man Jumps from skyscraper and survives

This has to be one of the most amazing stories I have ever heard. According to the report here a 22 year old man named Thomas Magill jumped from the top of a New York City sky scraper and fell 39 stories landing in the back seat of a Dodge Charger. The report goes on to tell that the man only suffered two broken legs and is believed to be going to survive without any other major issues. The report also talks about the man whose car this guy landed on. The car owner wasn’t upset at all and even talked about how his rosary saved the jumpers life.

To me this is incredible. It brings up so many questions that the author didn’t include. For instance why did he jump? If he’s stable now and awake, what does he think of his life now? Does he have a feeling of having a second chance now? I couldn’t imagine ever being driven to the point that I want to kill myself. There are so many things to live for and even if you’re at the bottom then you know things will have to get better. It also makes me wonder if now he will be charged for something like attempted murder for trying to kill himself. I would bet that he will be charged with something if nothing else for trespassing on the top of the building. As far as the jumper being saved by the rosary, I can’t say that I believe that. I don’t believe just being around something religious saves you. I do however believe that god can save someone if he so chooses. It was nice to know he wasn’t upset about his car. I don’t think I could have been that easy going about it.

I hope that this man survives and if he does that he gets the psychological help that he needs. At least his family and friends are aware of his feelings now and maybe they will get him some help.
