Man delivers baby 28miles out to sea

This story is from WPBF an ABC news station. The story tells of a couple that were sailing when the woman went into premature labor. The couple were 28miles out at sea when the husband delivered the baby.  The father claimed that the storm kicked up some bumpy waves and he thinks that is what caused his wife to go into labor. After the couple made it to shore they safely got mom and the new baby to the hospital both were fine. They named the child Bearing (after the GPS) because they had no idea where they were or where the baby was actually born.
My first thought on this is wow what an amazing story. The couple was able to deliver a baby and keep mom and baby safely all the way to the shore. I have three children so I know firsthand this is something better left to the professionals. I wouldn’t even begin to know what to do or how to do it. It did say that the woman had kids before and walked the husband through it. Wow I can’t believe that through her other kids’ births that she had the ability to pay enough attention to remember what to do this time. The one other thing that I thought was odd was what the heck were they doing almost thirty miles out to sea when she was 36 weeks pregnant? Are they crazy? You are not supposed to go on long trips when you are that far along let alone go sailing in the open sea. Who’s idea was this? I find it amusing that we ogle over this story because it turned out a happy ending but if just the slightest thing went differently we would be reading a completely different story and the joy would have been sorrow and this guy would have had to explain why he took his pregnant wife out to see when she was that far along.
